To Microwave: Drain slightly, if desired, then place in microwave safe dish. Cover and cook on HIGH power about 6 minutes. Stir and season to taste.
To Heat on Stovetop: Drain liquid into saucepan and boil down until 1/4 inch covers the bottom of pan. Add yams, put on tight-fitting cover, and steam until heated through. Or place in a casserole, add corn syrup or brown sugar, dot with butter and bake. (Mom used to always top with mini-marshmallows! When they brown crisp on top, it is done.)
